The Trilogy
“It’s easy to spend the whole day on tasks, failing to recalibrate and ignoring the fact that the tasks might not be helping us get the results we set out to create in the first place.”
— Seth Godin
The Work Isn’t Finished: A Trilogy on Purpose and Perspective
It began innocently enough earlier this year: a few notes in my journal, a little reflection, and a lot of denial about my age and memory. Before long, I was knee-deep in essays, discovering new ideas, and convincing myself this was “creative clarity” — not “cognitive decline.” Turns out, it was something better — a reminder that the work isn’t finished, and neither am I.
Seth Godin’s words echo the heart of this project. I’d spent years doing, producing, and moving forward — but rarely stopping to recalibrate. These writings became that recalibration: a chance to ask whether the tasks, routines, and ambitions of a lifetime were still pointing toward the results I truly wanted to create.
What started as random scribbles became stories about faith, courage, and the winding road in between — a trilogy, of all things. Somehow, the dots connected: teaching, coaching, and a life still unfolding. I began sharing some of it on my blog — short essays and reflections for anyone curious about where the road might lead next.
What I’ve written is really meant for those who know me best — the ones who’ve traveled with me, adventured with me, been coached (or occasionally humored) by me, and understand my unique brand of weird. At this stage of life, it’s far too late to reinvent myself, and I have zero interest in sitting on the back porch counting stars or joining activities designed for the older generation.
There’s still road ahead — and a few more stories to tell. Maybe even a few I’ve never dared to write about. If that sounds like your kind of journey, you’ll soon find information about The Work Isn’t Finished: A Trilogy on Purpose and Perspective on my website.
